DEC UK has duly announced Posix V1.0 compliance for its VAX/VMS operating system and three entry-level MicroVAX 3100s. The company says the new MicroVAX 3100 Models 30, 40 and 80, developed in Ayr, Scotland, are designed as entry-level systems or as servers for personal computer networks. The Model 30 comes in at UKP5,000, and DEC claims that TPC-A benchmark A results indicate the Model 80 is 14% lower in cost per transaction than any other system on the market. The new systems support DEC’s Network Applications Support software and enable the integration of MS-DOS, OS/2, Apple Computer Inc Macintoshes and Unix workstations.
