Nippon Digital Equipment launched Windows NT J and Advanced Server J, on its Alpha RISC DECpc AXP150 and the DECpc MTE MiniTower and DECpc LPx desktop. Systems with these operating systems pre-installed will be available February 28 for Windows NT, March 22 for NT Advanced Server. DEC is promoting a number of third-party applications to run on Windows NT including computer-aided design packages such as DesignView and Pro/Engineer, object databases such as Objectivity/DB, as well as over 200 applications already converted for the AXP 150 chip. Nippon DEC has begun offering Microsoft University training courses as a support service. A DECpc AXP 150 with Windows 3.1 pre-installed is selling at $11,900, while the same machine with the Advanced Server is $16,000.Hitachi Ltd’s Office Systems Division has announced Windows NT (Japanese version) and NT Advanced Server for its Flora series of personal workstations. Hitachi says it now sells over 50% of its Pentium and 80486 Flora series into networked environments. Windows NT is $612 for floppy version, $512 for the CD-ROM version, Advanced Server is $342.
