The good news from DEC (see alongside) is that it is celebrating two enormous health administration-related US government contracts: it is in for $100m over 10 years for a decentralised health-care computer system for the Veterans Administration, and has an estimated $400m of a $1,000m Department of Defense pact as subcontractor to the winner, Science Applications International Corp of San Diego; the 10-year contract pact is for computer systems for the worldwide Def-ense Composite Health Care project.
