Digital Equipment Corp has reduced US prices on packaged configurations of its 16-bit MicroPDP-11 Q-bus systems by up to 13%. The PDP-11/83, which uses the 18MHz J-11 processor, packaged up with 2Mb memory, a 159Mb RA54 disk drive, a 95Mb tape unit and a 16-line multiplexer is reduced by 13.1% to $26,500. A new package of the PDP-11/53, which uses the 15MHz version of the J-11, with 1Mb, 42Mb disk and 95Mb tape drive is $14,000 while the low-end configuration of 512Kb processor and a 20Mb disk drive is reduced by 5.4% to $8,770.
