DEC CUTS PRICES OF ALL STORAGE PRODUCTS IN THE UK

By CBR Staff Writer

DEC UK also made a wave of price cuts on disk, tape and memory products, ranging from 6% to 60%, and scrapped installation charges on add-on memory, saving customers between UKP300 and UKP400 a throw, and reducing the edge that has been available for third party vendors. Typical of the cuts is 15% on the SA482 storage array to UKP67,200. Other new disk drive prices are: UKP12,900 for 456Mb single spindle RA81, and UKP5,500 for a 159Mb RD54. VAX add-on memory prices now average UKP600-UKP800 per Mbyte.
