DEC has signed with Floating Point Systems, Portland, Oregon, to offer the new M64/60 and M64/30 bundled with its VAX 8000s. The M64/60, rated at 30Mflops, will be offered with the VAX 8550, 8700 and 8800, while the M64/30, rated at about 12Mflops, will be bundled with the VAX 8200. DEC says that the combinations will do large batch analyses and small analysis jobs 20 times faster than VAXes alone. An 8200 with an M64/30 starts at $330,000, an 8800 with M64/60 is from $1.5m.
