DEC AND IT PROVIDE METCOMBANK WITH NEW SMART CARD SYSTEM

Digital Equipment Corp and systems integrator IT have supplied the Russian commercial bank Metcombank with a smart card system. The bank is calling the system META-CARD. The set-up was developed and implemented by Digital and uses IT’s Smart City software, and includes a Digital Alpha Server running the Oracle Corp database under Unix, DEC personal computers as terminals, smart cards from GemPlus SA, point-of-sale terminals from VeriFone Inc, and DEC WB21ATM machines.
