DEC ALPHA SYSTEM IS A HIT WITH SPANISH BANKS

By CBR Staff Writer

Madrid-based Digital Equipment Espana SA is proving to be the Spanish banking sector’s first choice for data warehouse projects, after snapping up 15 of the 21 large-scale projects so far undertaken. A market share of 70% has brought the company revenue of $13.9m in the last fiscal year. The most recent contract has been signed with the banking group Argentaria, which will benefit from information storage capacity of one Terabyte by year-end. The aces in Digital’s pack are 64 bits and Alpha systems, as it continues to make progress in a market where products are not cheap, but give a 400% return on investment within three years, the company claims.
