Rubbing home the fact that as far as DEC is concerned, Apple Computer Inc is only one of several manufacturers of personal computers that have a big enough installed base to be taken seriously, the Maynard minimaker has signed an accord with Compaq Computer Corp similar to the one it signed with Apple at the beginning of the year. DEC and Compaq have signed a technology exchange agreement to ensure that Compaq’s AT-alike personal computers and DEC’s VAX minis will interconnect worldwide. DEC will also support Compaq computers on Open Systems Interconnection DECnets.
