Digital Equipment Corp said that the construction accident at a future Alpha semiconductor chip manufacturing facility will have no impact on production because the current generation is being made at other locations, and the facility where the accident occurred, injuring a revised figure of 16 construction workers, was not scheduled to begin production until 1996; building was suspended pending a routine investigation into the cause of the accident, in which a concrete floor collapsed under the construction workers; injuries would have been more serious but for the fact that they fell into newly-poured concrete; even so, two were in a critical condition.
