David Systems Inc, based in Sunnyvale, California has introduced Release 9 software for the David Information Manager, offering a number of new features to enhance Centrex. The Manager provides enhanced voice features and applications to Centrex systems and Release 9 of the software delivers over 20 new features. One feature that David chose to highlight was the enhanced electronic mail message waiting and retrieval functions. This means for example, that through a link to the users’ local electronic mail computer, Release 9 lights an indicator light on the individual’s David telephone enabling a user to determine at a glance whether there is an unanswered message waiting without having to log onto the electronic mail system. Release 9 supports the standard SMDI interface.
