Basingstoke, UK memory distributor Datrontech Group Plc is on the purchase trail once again, this time splashing out nearly 8m pounds for Dutch components and peripherals distributor International Computer Products NV. Datrontech, the memory chip company that’s shifting its business towards data management and communications components, will initially pay 2.27bn pounds on completion of the deal, and a further 5.67bn pounds to ICP in three yearly installments of 1.89bn. ICP has its main business in Holland, the UK and Belgium, but has subsidiaries in Denmark, Germany and Taiwan., concentrating on components distribution, network and storage products and components and personal computer assembly. ICP has turned down offers to buy it from US distributors and went with Datrontech because of what it sees as a business synergy between the companies. Datrontech hopes the acquisition will strengthen its international standing. At the beginning of the year Datrontech bought Southend-based computer products and peripherals outfit RD Trading Ltd, and Altrincham services company Xenon.
