Spending on datawarehousing will be unaffected by panic spending on year 2000 fixes and EMU compliancy issues. A survey by research firm Business Intelligence found that companies were actually planning investment in data warehousing – specifically warehouse design (60%), web-based warehousing (34%) and data mining (36%). The reason for this may be that the decision to invest in datawarehousing is becoming a corporate decision, rather than one that impacts on the dedicated IT budget. The survey found that 35% of the decisions to invest in datawarehousing had been driven by the boardroom rather than the IT department.
