South African networking technology group Datatec Ltd has expanded into the UK and US with two systems integration company acquisitions. Satelcom (UK) Ltd and Michigan-based Bloomfield Computer Network Solutions Inc will be added to Datatec’s international Logical brand as a part of its international expansion program. Bloomfield will be bought by Datatec’s Logical subsidiary for an initial payment of $30m and further performance-related payments up to $102m. Its name will be changed to Logical Solutions in an effort to provide a US beach-head for the Logical brand. Satelcom, to be renamed Logical Network Solutions was acquired for a performance-related maximum of 41m pounds in cash and trading agreements. The company is Datatec’s fourth UK SI company acquisition in two years, and will form the network services division of Datatec’s UK SI group. The combined revenues of the companies will amount to 120m pounds. Datatec now employs 2,500 people globally and plans to seek a quotation on the London stock exchange. The company claims that, since it floated on the Johannesburg stock exchange in 1994, its share price has increased by 2000%, with revenues over $1bn and a compound annual growth rate of over 100%.
