Datapoint Corp, the San Antonio, Texas telebusiness company that has suffered several years of economic misfortune, has secured two marketing agreements with Novell Inc to supply computer-integrated telephony services for NetWare environments. Initial agreements have been signed for the UK and Scandinavia, and Novell is looking to broaden the agreement to the whole of Europe, said Peter Manson, managing director of Datapoint UK Ltd. He sees the main market for computer-integrated telephone systems as tele-marketing, tele-services and customer service functions where large volumes of calls are made or processed and such a network will enable callers’ details to appear on screen as soon as a call is received. To achieve network integration it is working with L M Ericsson Telefon AB to develop a standard Telephony Server application programming interface through to its PABX networks for the Scandinavian market. In the UK, AT&T Global Information Solutions and Mitel Corp have written application drivers through to their networks with drivers from other switch suppliers in the offing. Datapoint will also provide consultancy, training, support and application development services, with integrators, resellers and application developers.
