Paris-headquartered Datapoint Corp has announced a pan-European distribution agreement under which it is to market and install the Definity Automatic Call Distribution system from the Global Business Communication Systems arm of AT&T Co (CI No 2,257). With the Definity product line, Datapoint says it will be able to offer a choice between its own dedicated system and AT&T’s PABX-based system, and offer a system to integrate its existing portfolio of predictive diallers, telemarketing software and voice processing systems. AT&T Global Business Communications says the deal represents a way to get access to the European market at an accelerated pace. The companies’ objective is sales of over $140m over the next three years, which would represent 20% of the European market. Key initial target markets are said to be the UK, Belgium, Holland, Germany and Spain areas where Datapoint says it already has a strong presence. Sweden, Austria, Switzerland and France will be added within 12 months. Both companies stressed that the agreement is not a precursor to a takeover of Datapoint by AT&T.
