Datapoint Corp of San Antonio, Texas has announced an order from the Italian Army’s Judiciary Police Branch – the Arma dei Carabinieri – for local area network-based computer systems worth $2.7m: the order is for 58 Datapoint processors and 10 terminals, to be used to configure ARCnet local area networks at Carabinieri installations throughout Italy, and will feature desktop processors, workstations and central network file servers to perform office automation and data processing functions; networks at diverse locations can be also be interconnected over telephone lines to create an extended network.
