The Markham, Ontario-based data integration vendor has enhanced the log-based CDC capabilities in its Transformation Server 5.4 and iReflect 3.0 products to support Oracle Corp’s Real Application Clusters technology.

RAC, an option for the Oracle 10g Enterprise Edition database system, is a cluster database that uses a shared cache to ramp up query processing throughput.

DataMirror’s CDC technology works by bypassing the need for triggers and queries against the database to incorporate changes.

New extensions to RAC now allow log-based CDC to capture changes in an Oracle database by reading the redo logs of clustered nodes and push out the change data formats to other databases and/or business applications in the same order that they occurred.

DataMirror said that processing data throughout day in real-time, as opposed to batch windows, provides the most accurate and up to date information for making informed operational decisions.

Another benefit is that it eliminates redundant data transfers and reduces network bandwidth that is required for batch processing tasks.
