Most of the enhancements in Matrix 4.5 are geared towards Microsoft SQL Server. The most significant new capability is the integration of scorecards directly into the dashboard display, by tapping into SQL Server 2005’s KPI Framework. They can also define metrics, alerts and rules directly from their Matrix dashboards.
Matrix also works with other SQL Server 2005 tools like Analysis Services and Reporting Services, and SharePoint technologies. It also supports Cognos PowerPlay OLAP server.
Dozens of minor functional upgrades have also been included in the release, including caching enhancements, drill-through capabilities of SQL Server Reporting Services reports, support for Oracle databases, better Excel exporting capabilities, multi-language support, and better dashboard layout and administrator controls.
Denes Bartakovich, co-founder and COO at Ottawa-based DataJungle, said that Matrix represents a new class of self-serve BI software for Microsoft and Cognos BI users.
The addition of powerful scorecarding means that we deliver all of the key BI capabilities that all classes of information workers require.
Matrix can be bought as a starter bundle that includes everything required for a customer to achieve an initial deployment with minimal cost and effort.
