DataDirect Networks (DDN) has rolled out its updated version of data storage platform, the DDN NAS Scaler 1.1.

With VMware integration and data deduplication features, NAS Scaler allows companies to develop a customised combination of capacity, throughput, and IOPS which are compliant with specific applications, the company said.

DDN vice president of marketing Jeff Denworth said adding comprehensive VMware integration to this solution makes it an even greater asset to customers as they respond to the data deluge.

"NAS Scaler offers organizations around the world unprecedented flexibility in responding to today’s rapidly growing – and oftentimes unpredictable – storage requirements," added Jeff.

The new offering also comes with major enhancements in disaster recovery and multi-protocol file access capabilities which DDN says will allow companies to reduce their Big Data complications and cost; and eliminate over-provisioning.

The upgraded NAS platform is suited for organisations developing collaborative workflows for playout, transcoding, and media distribution in one scalable namespace including data-intensive VMware and VDI environments.

In these environments, DDN NAS Scaler 1.1 offfers a plug-in that integrates directly into vCenter and develops VM clones, providing a complete VMware storage platform.
