Datacom Systems has entered into collaboration with Fujitsu Microelectronics to introduce a line of products that provide test and monitoring access for 10 gigabit networks.

Through filtering, the products enhance monitoring efficiency and optimise network resources for decentralised networking environments or anywhere departments and autonomous groups need efficient access to network data, the company claims.

According to Datacom, SINGLEstream 10G Link Aggregation TAPs provide visibility at 10G, even for single interface monitoring applications. It enables bi-directional monitoring of 10 gigabit full duplex links by aggregating both Tx and Rx data streams into one single stream of traffic, allowing any connected monitoring device to receive a complete copy of all the data in a single trace file.

In addition, SINGLEstream taps also reduce dependence on network switch resources to enhance network performance and visibility, and provide a single point of deployment and remote management to maximise IT staff efficiency and reduce MTTR.

Datacom Systems said that the VERSAstream 10G Data Access Switches with data filtering help network and security professionals overcome monitoring, troubleshooting, and deployment problems by providing monitoring access to 10 gigabit networks.

In addition, filtering technology allows network analysts to customise the traffic flow sent to any monitoring tool based on configurable filters such as IP address, port number, MAC address, VLAN, frame, protocol type or customisable off sets in the IP header. By aggregating and regenerating network traffic, the VERSAstream line is expected to provide visibility for multiple monitoring tools into multiple network segments.

Chris Koeneman, vice president of sales and marketing at Datacom Systems, said: “Many of today’s new solutions are geared toward centralising monitoring resources. In some cases centralisation is appropriate but we find that these solutions are too complex to manage and too costly for the needs of our customers in Japan. Our new 10G solutions are more cost-effective for distributed networks. And I am proud to say that Fujitsu Microelectronics powers our 10G solutions.”
