XML software company and one-time push aspirant DataChannel Inc has agreed to merge with SGML professional services provider Isogen International Corp. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed. DataChannel says it wants to extend its DataChannel XML Framework by providing professional services; accordingly, Isogen will become a DataChannel company. The combined entity has declared itself yet another contender for the emerging enterprise information portal (EIP) market. It looks as though EIP companies, like web application server vendors before them, face a period of consolidation. In an unrelated announcement, DataChannel unveiled its XJParser, part of a toolkit for its XML Framework.
