DataBeam Corp of Lexington, Kentucky, is rolling out its new Multimedia Telephony Platforms, a system for building H.323 and T.120 standards-based interactive voice, video and data applications for the internet and intranets. The Platforms are designed to give developers a way of speeding development of IP telephony products and services for use in call centers, computer telephony devices, large-scale IP telephony services and collaborative software products. The Gatekeeper Platform is the first available in the series and provides a call-routing architecture. It offers a default user interface with modules that let developers manage registration, admission and status functions, call routing for H.323 and Q.391, policy management for bandwidth use and access control, and tracking of registered clients and active calls. The Gatekeeper is available for Windows NT. The company plans to make all of the Multimedia Telephony Platforms available for Windows NT and Sun Solaris.
