DATA SWITCH ADDS IBM CHANNEL-TO-T-1 LINE SWITCH

By CBR Staff Writer

Data Switch Corp, Shelton, Connecticut developer of communications switches for IBM mainframes, has added a model that enables channel-attached IBM mainframes and peripherals to be interconnected over T-1 high-speed 1.544Mbps digital lines. The Model 9015 will be available in September, and costs from $85,000 for two rack-mounted extender units and a system controller. The company has also enhanced its Galaxy-Plus IBM matrix switch that enables customers to site their front-end processors and modems up to one mile away: the remote port group extension uses fibre optic cabling to extend front-end CPU ports and network devices up to 2,500 feet from a satellite switch cabinet.
