DATA PROTECTION REGISTRAR AGAINST UK NATIONAL IDENTITY CARDS

The Data Protection Registrar is not at all happy about the idea of the UK introducing national identity cards and numbers: the registrar, Eric Howe, says in a paper he has circulated among interested parliamentarians that from a privacy and data protection viewpoint the arguments suggest that the step should not be taken – and he’s not happy about even a voluntary card.
