DATA INNOVATIONS TO MERGE WITH GRAFTEL SYSTEMS OF DUBLIN

Data Innovations Inc, Wilmington, Massachusetts has agreement in principle to acquire Graftel Systems Ltd of Dublin, Ireland. Both companies manufacture and market colour hard copy output peripherals for scientific and engineering users of computer aided design and engineering and computer imaging applications. The new company will be called Graftel Systems Inc and will employ more than 50 people. Still privately-held, Graftel Systems Inc will manufacture and market colour video processors and digital cameras for generating hard copy from any major graphics terminal or workstation. It says that its company’s ModelViewer series of digital cameras interfaces directly to graphics software and is able to transfer computer-generated images onto high-quality, instant-colour prints, 35mm slides or instant overhead projection transparencies. Completetion is expected by April 1; 1988 sales are expected to exceed $5m.
