Data General Corp and Oracle Corp are to put Oracle’s Trusted Oracle7 up under Data General’s Defense Security Option running under the DG/UX Unix operating system: it is planned to be ready next summer when the Option ships: Defense Security Option is claimed to be the first multiprocessor Unix B2 targeted class operating system and network security solution for enterprise computing and it runs on Data General’s AViiON line of Unix-based servers and workstations; with the Defense Security Option, AViiON workstations will be priced at $8,000, AViiON 4500 and 5500 servers at 25,000 and AViiON 8500 and 9500 servers at $48,000; Trusted Oracle7 costs from $12,800.
