By CBR Staff Writer

Data General Corp appended a fourth new product as an afterthought to its announcement (CI No 990), a new 5.25 322Mb Winchester for use with its Combined Storage Subsystem for Departmental Computers and Combined Storage Subsystem product lines: the new drive increases maximum disk storage capacity by 37% for mid-range to high-end MV minis and reduces the cost per megabyte by as much as 26% over the existing 234Mb drive already available; the drive has 322Mb of formatted storage with 18mS average seek time and 8.33mS average rotational latency, and a sustained data transfer rate of 937K-bytes-per-second; at $7,500, the drive is 8% cheaper than the 234Mb, and will ship in 60 days.
