Yellowfin launches BI app for iPhone

Allows users to reuse existing report content by logging into Yellofin account

By CBR Staff Writer

Business intelligence (BI) firm Yellowfin has rolled out BI application designed for the iPhone, which it claims to make full use of the iPhone’s functionality to deliver its analytic capabilities.

According to Yellowfin, the benefits of Mobile BI include an improved customer service that allows mobile workers to make decisions; increased productivity; and increased competitive advantage by having access to data.

Yellowfin said that its application for the iPhone addresses the concerns and requirements for a Mobile BI offering. It allows users to reuse the existing report content by logging into existing Yellowfin account, eliminating the recreation of content for the mobile platform or repackage it for mobile distribution.

The company said that the application provides intuitive navigation, quick access to favourites and allows for reuse of its security infrastructure.

Glen Rabie, CEO of Yellowfin, said: “What’s different about Yellowfin on the iPhone compared to other BI apps is that we understand the Business intelligence needs of a Mobile worker are different from that of an analyst sitting at their PC. They are not using their phone with its tiny screen to do advanced analytics, rather they want instant access to data without the fuss. This is why we completely redesigned the user interface and navigation to meet the needs of the Mobile worker.”

Yellowfin recently launched version 4.1 of its BI suite and a mobile interface that provides delivery of both dashboards and reports to a mobile workforce.
