XtremeData, a provider of data analytics and computing offerings, has launched the dbX 100 Series of desk-side analytical data warehouse appliances, which leverage the Cray CX1 desk-side supercomputer and are designed for the unconstrained analysis and exploration of large data sets.

The company said that the dbX 100 Series is a fully-integrated appliance incorporating all the components of an analysis system, storage, computing, interconnect network and database engine.

According to XtremeData, the dbX 100 Series features include, 110v/20A office power with no data centre cooling requirements; suitable for a departmental workgroup or a single power-user; unrestricted ad hoc access to data; and load balancing at run-time.

Ravi Chandran, CEO of XtremeData, said: “XtremeData has created an analytics data warehousing appliance in a form factor never before possible using the Cray CX1 system. This brings our high performance analysis capabilities to a whole new category of users by offering immediate deployment at a highly affordable price and operational cost.”
