Voltaire, a provider of scale-out data center fabrics, has launched Voltaire Storage Accelerator (VSA), a new software offering that provides ultra-fast remote block storage access over a 10 GbE or InfiniBand fabric.
Voltaire said that the VSA enables a storage server pair to process up to a million I/O operations per second (IOPS) and deliver around 10 GB/s of data.
VSA software accelerates access time by a factor of 100X over traditional storage systems, leading to efficient application performance at low costs and using less space.
The company said that the new software improves performance of messaging systems in financial services, analytics, data warehousing and high-performance computing.
In addition, VSA can enhance virtual machine performance, and eliminate I/O delays and boot storms, while reducing storage costs.
Voltaire marketing VP Asaf Somekh said that the new VSA enables IT organisations to build their own high-performance storage system with off the shelf components.
