Virtualisation and cloud infrastructure company VMware has released the Socialcast Integration Engine which claimed to allow users to connect to their enterprise network and use social technology to improve business value.
The new release combines Socialcast Reach Version 3, the new Community App Manager and a set of developer APIs to securely enable systems to participate in the activity stream, extending the benefits of social to apps and machines.
Socialcast Integration Engine enables people and systems to connect using a natural interface that claims to bring the benefits of social collaboration to business systems like CRM, inventory management and HR applications.
Reach Version 3 features a setup wizard that enables users to set up extensions to enable integrations with any business system that accepts a HTML/Javascript snippet like SharePoint, CRM, ERP, PLM, HCM, Intranets and wikis.
The version 3 includes new extension types such as a customisable community trend extension, social recognition tool and new embeddable buttons.
It also includes integrations that will pull data from their host page to display content and improves user experience around sharing and the ability to share into a specific Socialcast group.
The Community App Manager helps developers to build secure apps on the Socialcast platform and enables IT to securely manage these apps with control over access, publishing and promotion of apps built for their community.
For developers and IT departments, the Community App Manager includes OAuth 2.0 security protocol to enable apps to pass data between the developer’s app and the Socialcast platform.
It also helps IT to manage access to apps by individual users or app and includes an internal app store to promote custom built apps to the community and drive usage of individual apps.
REST API available in Socialcast provides programmatic access to the same functionality available via a community’s Socialcast website, enabling companies to create social integrations with business systems, including custom developed business systems.
