Vertica systems, an analytic database company, has appointed former Acopia Networks CEO Christopher Lynch as the new president and CEO, to take the company to the next level, extending its market leadership, channel partnerships and international expansion.

Prior to joining Vertica, Lynch was senior vice president of data solutions at F5 Networks, a provider of application delivery networking offering, with whom Lynch helped orchestrate the acquisition of Acopia Networks. Before Acopia, Lynch was vice president of worldwide content delivery networking sales at Cisco Systems.

Previously, Lynch was vice president of worldwide sales, marketing and support at ArrowPoint Communications. He was instrumental in the company’s IPO and its subsequent $5.7bn acquisition by Cisco.

Prior to ArrowPoint, Lynch was vice president of North and South American sales for Lucent Technologies’ Gigabit Ethernet Products Unit. He joined Lucent from Prominet after Prominet was acquired by Lucent for $200m in January 1998. Lynch also held sales leadership positions at Lucent Technologies, Prominet, Bay Networks, Wellfleet Communications and Digital Equipment.

Lynch said: As the only native MPP-columnar database, Vertica’s solution is highly differentiated and delivers price and performance orders of magnitude better than the competition. My expertise lies in driving hard-charging companies and technically disruptive technologies like Vertica to the next phase of accelerated business development and beyond.
