The Pensions Trust has ramped up VMware backup speeds by 98% using Veeam Software management tools.
With Veeam’s Backup & Replication for VMware in place, The Pensions Trust is able to back up an 800Gb main file server in 10 minutes rather than eight to nine hours it took using its previous backup and recovery tool.
Ensuring the reliability of its backups in its virtual environment was vital for The Pensions Trust, but the IT team found its previous solution required more and more monitoring with each product revision.
“I used to spend countless hours monitoring and manually troubleshooting the old system, which included nights and weekends,” sad Darren Bull, business support manage for The Pensions Trust.
Without self-cleaning, it also meant the team had to clean down the file system every Sunday, which could take seven or eight hours. Even so it hardly freed up any space, whereas Veeam used almost half the space and without manual intervention.
