Veeam revamps its backup & replication tool with multi-hypervisor support

Efficient data protection of multi-hypervisor environments encompassing Windows Server Hyper-V and VMware vSphere

By CBR Staff Writer

Veeam Software, a provider of data protection, disaster recovery and management offerings for virtual datacentre environments, has upgraded its Veeam Backup & Replication with the offering of Windows Server Hyper-V protection as well as Microsoft Hyper-V Server protection

Veeam Backup & Replication v6 offers a single offering for fast, efficient, reliable, and affordable data protection of multi-hypervisor environments encompassing Windows Server Hyper-V and VMware vSphere, said the company.

By using Veeam platform, customers can now protect all virtual machines with a single product, from a single console, minimising cost and complexity, the company claims.

Veeam Backup & Replication support for Windows Server Hyper-V brings unprecedented speed and efficiency to Windows Server Hyper-V data protection, including 2-in-1: backup and replication, built-in de-duplication and compression, and changed block tracking for Windows Server Hyper-V.

Veeam Software president and CEO Ratmir Timashev said Veeam Backup & Replication is the number one product for VMware data protection as proven by the Best of VMworld 2011 Gold award for New Technology and more than 25,000 customers worldwide.

"We are very excited to bring its powerful functionality to Windows Server Hyper-V users, where they will use exclusive technology with the fastest backup on the market today," Timashev said.
