Virtualised backup recovery firm Veeam has integrated with EMC to allow companies to perform backup jobs up to 10 times faster than before.
Enterprises using EMC’s Data Domain Boost are set to benefit from shorter backup windows and the ability to protect more data more often following integration with Veeam, the brand announced today.
It has also expanded its data recovery tool, Veeam Explorer, to support Microsoft SQL and Active Directory, so users can find and recover individual items without being compelled to do a full recovery process.
The announcements are two of a raft of new features in Veeam’s Availability Suite, version 8, available from this summer.
CEO Ratmir Timashev said: "The modern business cycle is no longer confined to five days a week, eight hours a day.
"IT organisations must make data and applications available to all stakeholders every minute of every day. This is the era of the always-on business. Veeam’s Availability Suite provides key enabling technology that transforms the always-on business from a mere dream for most organisations into a reality."
Other new features include end-to-end encryption (AES 256-bit) for VM backups, network traffic and data on tape.
His company is also now integrated with NetApp’s SnapShots technology – announced last month – to allow IT departments to create backups every 15 minutes without loss of operability
Roswell Park Cancer Institute, one of the world’s largest cancer care, research and education organisations, is a Veeam customer, and claimed it is a "rock-solid solution".
Network system specialist John Ferguson said: "Veeam gives us comfort and security we never had with other tools.
"Veeam has our back every time. It’s a rock-solid solution, and when it comes to backup and recovery, that’s crucial, especially when you’re trying to restore something during an audit or for a critical business need."
