UK charities will receive free licenses for Tableau‘s analytics software and data training as part of new programmes by the company.

Charities with annual operating budgets of £3 million or less will now be able to access the Tableau Desktop tool through the Tableau for Nonprofits programme, allowing them to analyse their data visually in real time.

In addition, the company is introducing the Tableau Service Corps, a volunteer network of employees which will help the charities to understand their data. Charities of any size can request help from the team on any data-focused project.

The programmes are being launched through Tableau Foundation, Tableau‘s charity wing.

"Data can have enormous value to charities, enabling them to quickly measure the results of fundraising campaigns, tailor communications to individual supporters, discover new trends and tell more powerful stories," said a statement from the company.

According to research from the Institute of Fundraising, less than 24 percent of charities are collecting, analysing and implementing data, while over four-fifths collect the right data but are unable to properly analyse it.
