The enhanced NetBankup 7 consist Virtual Machine Intelligent Policy technology for VMware environments to automate the discovery and protection of virtual machines while enforcing existing data protection policies.
The company said that the enhanced offering will accelerate the transition to a virtual environment for enterprise organisations deploying a large number of virtual machines or building a private cloud infrastructure.
Symantec said that the new offering provides a faster path to the virtual datacentre; 50% faster virtual machine backup; on-demand recovery from anywhere; accelerate recovery; meet compliance and regulatory requirements; central control; deduplication for Oracle; MySQL support; and client upgrades simplified.
Symantec NetBackup product management vice-president Brian Dye said virtualisation has changed how organisations back up data, and NetBackup continues to evolve to protect their customers’ information within virtual environments.
