STORServer, a provider of data backup offerings for the mid-market, has unveiled a new version of its reporting software, which provides enterprise monitoring of a company’s Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) environment.
According to STORServer, the Reporter v2.5, also shipping as a virtual machine for existing TSM and STORServer customers, provides live data gathering and one button analysis, reporting and trending of backup servers and clients. It features asset management, dynamic performance reporting, departmental charge back capabilities and trending analysis that predicts resource conformity and TSM environmental constraints. In addition, it enables customers to generate reports across multiple TSM server instances.
STORServer said that the new software adds the capability to calculate TSM license compliance with the new asset management function, both for physical and virtual environments, without the use of an installed agent. The asset manager also provides an option to detect any disk that does not have a valid backup, the company said.
The company said that the Reporter’s data collection process captures data from users’ TSM server, stores it in its own database. It uses the data to provide reports and alerts of users’ server environment and to generate reports for problem analysis, trending, hardware utilisation statistics and configuration inconsistencies.
Bill Smoldt, vice president of research and development at STORServer, said: “STORServer Reporter version 2.5 is an excellent new product add-on for existing Tivoli Storage Manager and STORServer customers. As part of this upgrade, we’ve created a simplified installation process, so our partners can quickly help their customers enjoy the benefits of this solution.”
