A software-defined storage company has announced the appointment of its new CEO.

Tarkan Maner is taking over as chairman and CEO of Nexenta, with interim CEO Mark Lockareff stepping down after seven months at the helm.

Maner brings more than 20 years of experience working with disruptive technology solutions to Nexenta, which hopes to provide enterprise-class storage solutions for any business through its OpenStorage ZFS technology.

Maner said: "I am excited to join the Nexenta family. I look forward to working with our extended global team to bring the most innovative solutions and unmatched quality experience and success to our customers and partners all around the world."

Co-founder and CTO Evan Powell said: "We couldn’t be happier to have him on board, and look forward to accelerating the growth of our business under his leadership."

Lockareff now joins the company’s Board of Advisors.

Powell said of him: "Mark Lockareff did a wonderful job for Nexenta during his time as interim CEO, from closing our series D round of financing to overseeing continued product innovations, as well as strengthening our key alliances with VMware, Dell and Cisco. We thank him for his distinguished service."

Lockareff helped finalise the funding round, which raised $24m for the firm.
