Spansion, a flash memory chip maker, has launched 2Gb NOR Flash memory product, the 2Gb Spansion GL-S, for delivering 2D and 3D graphics, animation and video in games, learning devices and automotive infotainment and instrumentation clusters.
The company said the 2Gb Spansion GL-S is based on Spansion’s MirrorBit charge-trapping technology, and delivers high performance products based on the MirrorBit technology.
The 2Gb Spansion GL-S features high performance suited for handheld consumer games; game cartridges; handheld learning devices; industrial entertainment machines, such as arcade games and information kiosks; and automotive applications.
The product also features a complete line of memory from 32Mb to 2Gb, featuring high-speed random read performance, and process technology of 65nm.
Spansion is aiming to achieve a product line of up to 4Gb for future system cost advantages and expanded storage.
Spansion vice president of Marketing Avo Kanadjian said manufacturers of gaming and consumer products are realising the value of Spansion NOR Flash memory and its features for users interactivity with new 3D experiences.
