Spare Backup announced that it has been selected by Simplexity to power a cloud-based mobile data backup and transfer service for Simplexity’s wireless retail site, Wirefly.com.

The company said the new service, Wirefly Mobile Backup, allows cell phone users the ability to backup, store, sync, share, retrieve and coordinate all their data across all their devices, regardless of manufacturer, including PCs, cell phones and PDAs via a central web-based interface.

The mobile backup service is currently available for download on Wirefly.com as well as in the Android Market and iTunes App Store.

The service also works across all major US carriers, and Palm, Java, Windows Phone 7 and Symbian operating systems are expected to be supported by the end of the quarter.

Spare Backup said Wirefly Mobile Backup can also be used to protect the data on personal computers (PC).

Both companies agreed to share revenue from customers purchasing additional products or services available through the use of Spare Backup’s cloud platform.

Spare Backup will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the data and for the administration and operation of the platform, website and service delivery.
