Seven10 Storage Software, an enterprise archiving and disaster recovery technology, said that its StorFirst EAS file system software is integrated with EMC Atmos through the EMC Velocity Atmos Partner Program.
The company said that this integration will enable customers to utilise the cloud as an enterprise archiving storage tier or as a single point of storage for their information.
According to Seven10, its Windows-based StorFirst EAS software allows access to the cloud by providing a CIFS/NFS/Http integration layer into EMC Atmos, which is EMC’s multi-petabyte cloud infrastructure offering combining scalability with automated data placement to deliver content and information services.
The StorFirst EAS enables customers to incorporate Atmos cloud storage for use with single or multiple applications simultaneously, without having to integrate into typical cloud-based APIs. Regardless of the EMC Atmos deployment method, either on-site or as an on-line service, users of the platform will benefit from the accessibility provided by the StorFirst EAS file system interface, the company said.
In addition, StorFirst EAS is engineered to enable expansion and centralised management of the enterprise archive. It supports storage tiering across multiple EMC cloud infrastructure services and EMC storage offerings including EMC Atmos, Atmos Online, Centera, CLARiiON and Symmetrix.
Bobby Moulton, president of Seven10, said: Seven10’s collaboration with EMC is an important step in the evolution of supported platforms within StorFirst. Our StorFirst EAS archive file system is developed in perfect harmony with EMC Atmos, providing customers the tools they need to fully utilize the cloud as an enterprise archiving storage tier or as a single point of storage for their information.
