According to a report by IDC, nearly 70% of businesses plan to invest on endpoint security, while 36% of executives in government agencies are planning to invest in new or enhanced network security applications.

The report also found that fewer executives plan to invest in net new applications, enhancements, or replacements.

IDC EMEA Government Insights research manager, Silvia Piai, said that governments should consider federated IAM policies and solutions to enable effective access to information and services.

"They should review their IT security capabilities to focus more on risk management rather than trying to ban use of consumer devices and applications," Piai said.

The survey was conducted on government IT and non- IT executives in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK and found that the UK government sector is the most advanced in terms of tge ability to deal with new risks from third-generation platforms, in particular cloud computing.
