SAS is aiming to ease the path to collaboration for data scientists and business users with the integration of SAS Visual Analytics with Visual Statistics.

Visual Statistics will add deeper statistical analysis to existing Visual Analytics capabilities along with tools to help solve problems.

Wayne Thompson, SAS Chief Data Scientist, said: "The new releases reflect the converging needs of business professionals and data scientists, as both sets of users seek to boost their productivity."

"Some business analysts want to go beyond descriptive analytics and do more with predictive analytics. SAS provides an easy way to look into the future."

Both of the products will use SAS In-Memory analytics, with multiple users being able to concurrently analyse data on Hadoop clusters, relational database systems or SAS servers.

The interactive elements in SAS Visual Analytics have been extended to Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Office products.

SAS is also offering free SAS software via AWS for students, educators, research and anyone who wants to learn SAS. The idea behind this is to help counter the analytics skills gap.

Robby Powell, Principal Product Marketing Manager for Cloud and Platform Technologies at SAS, said: "Making SAS available in AWS Marketplace lets many more users put SAS University Edition to work."

"To close the analytics skills gap, we want to make analytics software available to anyone curious about finding answers. With its global footprint, AWS Marketplace enables SAS to reach a broader audience and educate more SAS users."

SAS University Edition in the AWS Marketplace is eligible for the AWS Free Tier program and will allow free access to first-time AWS subscribers for 12 months.

Barry Russell, Head of Global Business Development for AWS Marketplace, AWS, said: "We are thrilled SAS software is now available in AWS Marketplace."

"With SAS University Edition, customers around the globe have access to deploy the software instantly, learn SAS and develop valuable business analytics skills."
