German software giant SAP has announced that it is making its HANA real-time analytics platform available to small and medium business (SMBs) later this year.
The company is pushing HANA at this market through two products – HANA for SAP Business One and HANA Edge. The first of these will be, as the name suggests, targeted at companies already using Business One and is a small-scale HANA-based application. It includes Crystal Reports, the company’s reporting tool that is aimed at smaller businesses.
SAP says HANA for SAP Business One will hit general availability at the end of the year.
HANA Edge will be targeted at those in the midmarket and running Business All-in-One, the company said. It can also be bundled in with SAP BusinessObjects Edge Business Intelligence (BI) software.
During a conference call with journalists and analysts, SAP’s Eric Duffaut, president of global ecosystem & channels said that big data analytics was not just reserved for the biggest enterprises.
"SMBs are very important to SAP, with 79% of our customers coming from that segment," he said. "Customers in that segment are innovating, which means surviving and thriving. They are the engine of job creation. But the need agility and to be able to adapt quickly, and that is where HANA comes in, offering them real-time analytics."
The company would not be drawn on pricing for the two new products but they will be available through the channel.
