In a day which has seen the company boast a 300% increase in bookings, Pure Storage has also revealed the acquisition of rival EMC’s Senior Vice President, UK and Ireland, James Petter.
After more than a decade at EMC, James joins as EMEA Vice President, taking on the responsibility of leading Pure Storage EMEA.
Petter is a graduate of the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. He served in the 2nd Royal Green Jackets for six years.
Commenting on the appointment of Petter and why the ex-EMC man chose to join, Scott Dietzen, Pure Storage CEO, told CBR’s Ambrose McNevin: "People want to change the world and want to be part of an exciting technology that customers are thrilled to embrace. Our customer satisfaction ratings are way above those of the incumbents."
"This is a large market opportunity to replace current tier 1 (they call it performance but that’s a misnomer), let’s call it mechanical disk storage. This is the largest available market to an upstart and he gets to be a part of that."
Dietzen says Petter’s targets for success are "first and foremost maintaining growth, maintaining customer and partner satisfaction and continuing to hire the right people which is fundamental to growth."
Alongside James Petter’s appointment, the company also announced Alex McMullan as EMEA Chief Technology Officer. McMullan took over as CTO in July 2014, having previously been responsible for managing Barclay Capital’s distributed computing infrastructure.
