Origin Storage, a manufacturer and distributor of IT storage products, has launched 1TB and 750GB Data Locker. The new capacities will be in addition to the 320GB and 500GB which are already available.

The company said that the Data Locker secures the data by AES hardware encryption and a 6-18 digit PIN number which is entered directly on the device itself. It only allows the portable drive to mount an operating system when the correct PIN will be entered on the LCD keypad.

According to Origin Storage, the new device offers features such as brute force attack detect/self destruct, one touch drive erase for re-deployment, hardware based malware detection/deflection, random keypad to prevent shoulder hacking, 100% platform independent security and authentication, military grade AES encryption (CBC mode) and no pop-up password entry screens.

Three different levels of security are available, Data Locker Personal for consumer and education (only in 160GB, 320GB and 500GB), Data Locker Pro AES for corporate and local government and Data Locker Enterprise for military and transportation of mission critical data, the company said.

Nick Alaway, sales and marketing manager at VSPL, a reseller for Data Locker, said: “As data grows within all industries, our customers have been looking for larger capacities to be able to move all their sensitive data around. The 1TB fills this requirement at a price that is highly attractive. This is a great sales opportunity for us as this is exactly the solution our customers are looking for to enable them to move their data around securely.”

The sample price of Pin Protected Pro AES 128bit is £399 for 1TB and £299 for 750GB drive.
