Omniture, a provider of online business optimisation software, has updated its web analytics product to incorporate additional mobile analytics capabilities. The company’s new SiteCatalyst (v14.6) reportedly provides Mobile App Measurement support across all smartphone platforms including Symbian OS-based smartphones (Nokia and others) and the new Palm Pre smartphone, building upon the previously available Mobile App Measurement products for iPhone, Blackberry and Android devices.

The company noted that the new offering allows mobile analytics implementation where implementations for mobile-specific sites are deployed with improved processes and new server-side measurement. It has also expanded mobile device database which offers recognition of and reporting on mobile devices around the world, including those used in Japan and Asian markets. Also, enhancements are made to the SiteCatalyst calendar, dashboards, charts and reports to support analysis and reporting capabilities.

Larry Berkin, head of global alliances at Symbian Foundation, said: We recently previewed Symbian Horizon, a mobile application-publishing programme designed to help developers write applications once and publish to app stores worldwide – quickly and easily.

Omniture’s app measurement solutions will help Symbian-based developers and marketers better understand how their mobile applications are performing and provide key insights to further improve apps to create richer, more enjoyable consumer experiences. This is a great step forward for the Symbian ecosystem.

The company has earlier released new Omniture Insight (v5.3) version, which is said to expand analytical capabilities while increasing performance. The version reportedly enables organisations to analyse data in real-time, synthesising data from any source – including business intelligence tools, data warehouses, web, call centres and point-of-sale in retail, to correlate online and offline data for understanding customer behaviour and preferences.
