OCZ launches new solid-state drive for desktops, mobile systems

Delivers 270MB/s read, 265MB/s write, and up to 10,000 random write IOPS

By CBR Staff Writer

OCZ Technology Group, a provider of solid-state drives (SSDs) and memory modules for computing devices and systems, has launched Onyx 2 Series, a new 2.5 inch SSD designed for desktops and mobile systems.

OCZ said that the SandForce-driven Onyx 2 offers low price per gigabyte and delivers 270MB/s read, 265MB/s write, and up to 10,000 random write IOPS (4k aligned), without high costs associated with similar multi-level cell (MLC)-based offerings.

The new SSD also offers an enhanced computing experience for netbooks, laptops, and home desktops with quicker application loading, snappier data access, shorter boot-ups, and longer battery life and feature TRIM support as ultimate Windows 7 upgrade.

In addition, Onyx 2 SSDs available in 120GB and 240GB capacities, feature durable lightweight housing, and is backed by a 2-year warranty and renowned technical support.

OCZ Technology Group CEO Ryan Petersen said that the new Onyx 2 Series SSDs give customers both performance and value, and are an ideal offering for mobile and desktop users who want to take advantage of all benefits that SSDs offer over traditional rotational based drives.
